JJ Williamson has been making rooms laugh since 1995, the Jackson, Mississippi native who calls himself JJ from the Sipp and spent fifteen years as the opening act for Cedric the Entertainer, one of the Original Kings of Comedy. The resume underneath runs through Def Comedy Jam, BET's ComicView, Showtime at the Apollo, and a role in Johnson Family Vacation.
The act is Southern storytelling refined over three decades, family material, church material, the everyday told big, delivered with the polish of a comic who has worked every kind of room from the Improv to the Universal Amphitheater.
He headlines the Comedy Zone on June 21, the late Sunday slot, table service and a crowd that knows exactly what it came for. Thirty years of craft in one set.
