Tanael "TJ" Joachim

The Stage Door Theater holds somewhere around 150 people. It is the small flexible room tucked into the Blumenthal footprint on North College Street, and it almost never gets used for stand up, which makes Tanael Joachim's Saturday, October 3, 2026 date one of the more unusual comedy bookings of the fall.

TJ is the right comic for a room that size. Born and raised in Haiti and based in New York, he works the Comedy Cellar and Gotham regularly, has played the Netflix Is A Joke festival, and has opened for Colin Quinn, Janelle James and Sean Patton. His delivery is slow and conversational, built on the gap between Haitian life and American life, and it depends on the audience actually hearing the turns. Put that voice in an arena and it evaporates.

Uptown makes the logistics easy. North College is a short walk from the Blue Line and from most of the decks people already use for Belk Theater nights, and 150 seats means there is no bad one. This is the kind of show you find out about after it sells, so treat the small number as the reason to move rather than a reason to wait.
