Austin Meade

Austin Meade has a line he uses about the problem. Some days the band is the country act at a rock festival, some days the rock act at a country festival. He has stopped trying to solve it, and Almost Famous, out on Snakefarm, is the record where that stopped being a compromise. He plays the Neighborhood Theatre on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

He came up a preacher's son in Texas and the songs still carry the cadence of somebody raised on being listened to. Almost Famous was cut between a Nashville garage and a spare bedroom studio back home, ten songs, and it sounds like it, in the way that flatters the record rather than excusing it. Guitars sit forward, the writing stays confessional, and nothing about it is polished into neutrality.

The Neighborhood Theatre has been NoDa's independent room since 1997 and it takes uncategorizable bookings as a matter of course, which is why the neighborhood turns up without needing the genre explained. A Wednesday keeps the crowd to the people who came for this specifically. Park once on North Davidson and walk to whatever is next.
