Chat Pile came out of Oklahoma City making music as bleak and unsettling as the industrial waste heaps they named themselves after, a churning fusion of noise rock, nu metal, grunge, and post punk that earned a fierce cult following on its own uncompromising terms. Their 2024 album God's Country was one of the most acclaimed heavy records in years.
The new album, Who Loves the Sun, continues the descent, and the live show is a genuine catharsis, ugly, intense, and weirdly moving.
The Underground hosts November 14, 750 capacity. Music this heavy and this honest in a room this close is not for everyone, which is exactly why its fans guard it so fiercely. A Saturday for the brave.
