D'Lai earned the internet the long way first. The Alexandria, Louisiana comic, born Davetrick Laird, won Las Vegas Star Search in 2004 and put in two decades through Def Comedy Jam, ComicView, and military tours from Iraq to Korea before the clips took over, sketches and reactions that now pull hundreds of millions of views a month across platforms.
The Wait a Minute Tour converts that following back into rooms, and it has been selling out across the country, the rare social media act whose stage chops predate the algorithm by twenty years.
The Comedy Club at Duckworth's hosts June 26, 18 and up, a hundred seats for a comic whose punchlines were built in clubs exactly this size. The catchphrase will be yelled, participate accordingly.
