About Geordie Greep
The New Sound Goes Outdoors
Nobody opens an amphitheater with this. Geordie Greep plays Truliant Amphitheater on Thursday, September 17, 2026, warming up the lawn for The Strokes, and the material he is touring was not built for anything like it. The former black midi frontman is on his own North American run behind The New Sound, his 2024 solo debut, a record he cut partly in São Paulo with Brazilian session players and arranged like a lounge act that has lost the plot.
The songs are long, the horns are loud, and the narrator is usually a man you would move away from at a bar. Live, Greep fronts a full band and sings the whole thing like a crooner doing a bit he refuses to drop. It is very funny and genuinely difficult at the same time, and thirty five minutes of it in daylight is a strange gift for anyone who showed up early.
That is the practical note here. Opening slots at Truliant start when the gates are still busy, so this one rewards leaving Uptown earlier than the ticket suggests. University City traffic is the reason people miss support acts at this shed, and Greep is the wrong one to miss.
