Charlotteans of a certain age have seen four different signs on the same amphitheater. It opened in 1991 as Blockbuster Pavilion, spent years as Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, a decade as PNC Music Pavilion, and in early 2026 became Truliant Amphitheater. The name changes, the ritual does not. This is where Charlotte spends its summer nights, out in University City by the 485 interchange.
The place holds about 19,500 across three tiers. Just over 7,000 reserved seats sit under the pavilion roof, a couple thousand reserved seats line the front of the lawn, and the rest is the great general admission lawn itself, blankets, coolers of memories, and the show on the big screens. Pavilion seats hear the mix best, the lawn has more fun.
It is a Live Nation shed, so the calendar is the national summer tour circuit, country headliners, classic rock, pop packages, the festivals on wheels. Plan the drive and the parking lot exit like part of the night, bring what the lawn rules allow that season, and check the weather, because rain or shine means exactly that.

Good To Know Before You Go
- What is the Truliant Amphitheater seating chart like?
- Three tiers. Reserved seats under the pavilion roof closest to the stage, about 7,200 of them, then a couple thousand reserved seats at the front of the lawn, then the big general admission lawn behind. The seating chart on this page shows the layout, and each tier is priced separately per show.
- Is Truliant Amphitheater the same place as PNC Music Pavilion?
- Yes. The naming rights changed in early 2026, so PNC Music Pavilion is now Truliant Amphitheater. Same venue, same location on Pavilion Boulevard in University City. It opened in 1991 as Blockbuster Pavilion and was also Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre for years.
- Are the lawn seats at Truliant Amphitheater any good?
- The lawn is the budget pick and the party pick. You watch from a blanket with the stage in the distance and the big screens carrying the close ups. For sound and sightlines, pavilion seats win. For a summer hang with friends, the lawn is the move.
- How big is Truliant Amphitheater?
- About 19,500 at capacity, which makes it one of the biggest concert venues in the Charlotte area, behind only the stadium and roughly even with the Uptown arena.
- Where do you park at Truliant Amphitheater?
- On site lots around the venue, included or prepaid depending on the show. The exit crawl after a sold out night is real, so either linger through the encore crowd or duck out a song early.
- Can you bring chairs or blankets to the lawn?
- Blankets are generally fine on the lawn, and lawn chair rules vary by show and season, so check your event's rules before you go. Outside food and drink generally stay in the car.
- What happens if it rains?
- Shows run rain or shine. Pavilion seats are covered, the lawn is not, so lawn ticket holders should pack a poncho, since umbrellas are usually not allowed.
