Julia Cole's first stages were stadiums, singing the national anthem before NFL, MLB, and NASCAR crowds as a Houston volleyball standout with a voice too big for the gym. The country career that followed kept the independence, no label, ever, and built half a billion streams on attitude forward Texas country anyway, with opening slots for Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, and Dan and Shay along the way.
