Upcoming At Amos' Southend

Amos' Southend has died twice and come back both times. The brand started in 1990 as a Park Road bar, closed, then reopened in 2000 in a converted South End building that ran 17 loud years, John Legend, John Mayer, Chris Stapleton, and Hootie all passed through, and The Roots played it during the 2012 convention. Then South End's boom took the parking lot for the RailYard development, and the big room closed in March 2017.

Here is the twist, the development that killed it brought it back. Once the RailYard's deck promised cheap evening parking, founder John Ellison rebuilt the club at half size in the back of his own building, behind his Gin Mill bar, and reopened in March 2019, two years to the day after the final show in the old room. The new Amos' holds around 700, a standing floor plus a tiered mezzanine where the seats are guaranteed and the view is never blocked.

The modern calendar is honest fun, tribute acts most weekends, Taylor Swift to Nirvana, with touring rock and metal in between, almost everything 16 and up unless posted otherwise. The Gin Mill out front feeds you, with a discount for advance ticket holders, and the Blue Line's Bland Street station sits about a hundred yards behind the building. Eat in front, rock in back, train home.

Good To Know Before You Go

Does Amos' Southend have seats or a seating chart?
The floor is general admission standing, and the tiered mezzanine balcony above it has the guaranteed seats, with a clear view from every row. The floor plan on this page shows the layout. If standing all night is not your thing, the mezzanine is the move.
How big is Amos' Southend?
Around 700 people in the current room, which opened in 2019 at about half the size of the original. The old room at the same address held around 1,300 before it closed in 2017.
Is Amos' Southend 18 and up?
The baseline is 16 and up unless a show is posted otherwise, and plenty of 2026 dates run all ages or 21 and up, so check your event. Bring a photo ID for the bar.
Is there food at Amos' Southend?
Not inside the venue, but The Gin Mill in the front of the same building serves food and gives a discount to advance ticket holders, plus it has a rooftop patio. Dinner and the show are one address.
How do I get to Amos' Southend by light rail?
The Blue Line's Bland Street station is about a hundred yards behind the venue. The club itself suggests parking at New Bern station down South Boulevard and riding one stop in, which beats hunting for a space.
Where do you park at Amos' Southend?
The RailYard deck directly across the street runs about 8 dollars on evenings and weekends, with street spots scattered around South End. Or skip it entirely and take the train to Bland Street.
Is this the same Amos' that closed?
Same name, same founder, same address, smaller room. The original 1,300 person club closed in March 2017 when the lot across the street became the RailYard, and John Ellison reopened a roughly 700 person version in the back of the building in March 2019, two years to the day later.
