About Martin Lawrence
A Name Ovens Rarely Gets
Ovens Auditorium does not land many names this size. Martin Lawrence plays it on Thursday, October 8, 2026, with Loni Love opening, which puts a genuinely historic stand up act on Independence Boulevard rather than in an arena.
The resume covers most of what happened to American comedy in the 1990s. He hosted Def Comedy Jam through its defining years, put out You So Crazy, ran five seasons of Martin, and then spent decades on the Bad Boys franchise. Any one of those would carry a touring career. Together they mean the room will hold at least three different generations who each found him a different way.
Pick your night carefully, because October 8 is a mess in this city. Fuerza Regida has one amphitheater, Gregory Alan Isakov has the other, and this is the third option. Ovens is easier than either of them for parking and the drive out, which is a real argument in its favor. It seats around two thousand four hundred, so there is no bad angle on a comic.
