Matt Bergman

Mostly Nice is the title of Matt Bergman's album and a fair description of the act. He put it out on Rhizome Records and it reached Amazon Prime in March 2025, following television time on Gotham Comedy Live and Comedy Central and a set for Dry Bar Comedy, which is where comics go when the material does not need a warning label. He plays The Comedy Club at Duckworth's on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Clean does not mean soft here. Bergman works observational material with a lot of self deprecation in it, and the Dry Bar crowd tends to reward comics whose jokes are actually constructed rather than shocking. It travels well, which is why he keeps turning up in small theaters and clubs in cities where nobody knew him a year before.

Duckworth's is upstairs at North Tryon and 7th, a couple of minutes from the 7th Street light rail stop and the decks around it. A Sunday evening here is the easy version of a night out Uptown, early enough to get dinner first and early enough to still have a Sunday left afterward.
