Nobody has traveled a stranger road to heavy music than Poppy, from surrealist YouTube android to legitimate metal force with Grammy nominations and mosh pits to show for it. The seventh album, Empty Hands, swings between industrial crunch, gleaming pop, and that signature machine calm voice, often inside one song.
The Constantly Nowhere tour is the album's first live airing, running July into August across North America with French metalcore heavyweights LANDMVRKS and San Diego's Thousand Below stacking the bill.
The Fillmore hosts August 18. The contrast is the show, choreographed eeriness one minute, full breakdown the next, and a crowd that screams for both.
