About Shawn James
Dark Folk Fills NoDa
Shawn James has the kind of voice that does not need much around it, a deep, weathered instrument he points at dark folk, blues, and Americana. He brings it to the Neighborhood Theatre on Thursday, October 8, 2026, on the North American leg of a tour behind his new album, Passage.
A former movie house that has stood on North Davidson since 1997, the Neighborhood Theatre gives a voice like his the space to fill the room and the walls to send it back. Solo or with a band, this is music that wants exactly that kind of room, old and a little worn.
Bring the friend who swears nobody sings like they used to. A Thursday in NoDa, one enormous voice, and a room that has heard a lot of them.
