About Shelby Stone
Red Dirt, Blue Hair
Shelby Stone is what happens when Texas country stops worrying about Nashville entirely. The Fort Worth songwriter, blue haired and label free, sold a thousand copies of her debut Silveryear in its first week and moved the vinyl pressing in under an hour, all direct to fans, no machine behind her. Rolling Stone called her red dirt country's blue haired heartbreaker, and the elders agree, Robert Earl Keen and the Turnpike Troubadours among the admirers.
The songs earn the fuss, raw heartbreak writing with a rock edge, delivered like she means every syllable because she does. It is the sound of the Texas dance hall tradition handed to someone with her own ideas about it.
Her June 10 stop is at the Evening Muse in NoDa, the 120 person listening room where Charlotte goes quiet on purpose. A songwriter this direct in a room this small is the whole point of that venue, and with about a hundred tickets to go around, hesitation is how you miss it.
