The Kings Of Red Dirt
No band in modern country means more to its faithful than the Turnpike Troubadours, the Oklahoma red dirt institution whose hiatus and 2022 return turned every show since into a thanksgiving. Their surprise 2025 album The Price of Admission debuted at number one on the country charts, and the Wild America Tour has been extending itself ever since because the rooms keep selling out.
Evan Felker writes characters, Lorrie, the boys from the Bossier City barrooms, who recur across albums like a novel in installments, and the band plays fiddle and steel forward country that never needed Nashville's permission.
