PJ Morton has spent fifteen years playing keys for Maroon 5, and somehow that is the least interesting line on the resume. The solo catalog has won him six Grammys across gospel and R&B, and he became the first Black composer to write an original song for a Disney attraction, scoring Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
The new project is the most ambitious yet, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, a double album released June 19, 2026 that splits the difference its title describes, the party side and the church side of New Orleans soul on one record.
The Carolina Theatre hosts August 12, a restored Uptown room with the warmth this music deserves. Expect both halves of the album title before the night ends.
