Mellon Collie Turns Thirty

Thirty years on, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness still sounds like a band trying to fit an entire emotional universe onto one record, and largely succeeding. The Rats In A Cage Tour celebrates the album's anniversary with a night built in two halves, one devoted to that 1995 double album, the other a career spanning run through four decades of Billy Corgan's catalog.

That structure means the hits and the deep cuts both get their due, Tonight Tonight, 1979, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, alongside corners of the discography the casual fan forgot existed.
