Upcoming At Spectrum Center

When a tour is too big for everything else in the Carolinas, it plays Spectrum Center. The Uptown arena has hosted The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, and U2 along with most every arena act in between, around 150 events a year sharing the calendar with the Charlotte Hornets, whose home court this is.

It opened in 2005 and came out of a 245 million dollar renovation in late 2025, so the building feels newer than its age, upgraded concourses, bowl, and amenities. Concert capacity runs around 19,000 to 20,000 depending on the stage setup, with a floor that goes seated or standing by tour and a lower and upper bowl wrapping the room.

Being at Trade and Caldwell in the middle of Uptown is the best part. The light rail stops practically at the door, the decks and restaurants of center city surround it, and the walk out after the encore lands you in a neighborhood still awake. Make dinner reservations early on show nights, Uptown fills up.

Good To Know Before You Go

What is the Spectrum Center seating chart like for concerts?
An arena bowl. The stage usually sits at one end, the floor in front of it sells as reserved seats or standing general admission depending on the tour, and the lower and upper bowls wrap around. The chart on this page shows the typical end stage layout, and exact sections vary by show, so check the live map when you buy.
How many people does Spectrum Center hold for a concert?
Roughly 19,000 to 20,000 depending on the stage configuration, which makes it the biggest indoor room in Charlotte.
How do I get to Spectrum Center without driving?
The Blue Line light rail is the play, it stops steps from the arena in the middle of Uptown. If you do drive, the Uptown decks around Trade and Caldwell are your options, and prepaying saves the circling.
What is the bag policy at Spectrum Center?
Strict, like most arenas. Small clutches are generally the only bags allowed, and anything larger needs to stay home or in the car. Arrive a few minutes earlier than you think for the security line.
Where are the best seats for a concert at Spectrum Center?
Lower bowl seats along the sides carry the best mix of view and sound for an end stage show. The floor is the closest and the loudest, and the upper corners behind the stage are the gamble, sometimes sold cheap with a partial view.
Is Spectrum Center the Hornets arena?
Yes. It is the home of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets, which is why concert dates cluster around the basketball schedule. It opened in 2005 and was renovated top to bottom in 2025.
What is near Spectrum Center?
All of Uptown. Restaurants, bars, and hotels sit within a few blocks, so dinner before and a drink after are part of the night. The Music Factory venues are a short ride north when you want a club show instead.
