Tame Impala Takes The Weekend

Charlotte rarely gives one act the arena two nights in a row, which is what makes the end of this week worth clearing your calendar for. Tame Impala play Spectrum Center on Saturday, August 1 and again on Sunday, August 2, with Djo opening both. The Deadbeat Tour carries the band's fifth album, out since 2025, and the show is built for the eyes as much as the ears, a light rig that turns an arena floor into something closer to a planetarium. Djo only rides along for the first half of this North American run, so Charlotte catches that pairing near the end of its window. Two nights means two chances, and the Sunday show tends to be the looser one.

Around The Neighborhoods

Uptown does not wait for the weekend. Melanie Martinez opens the week at Spectrum Center on Monday, July 27, touring her album Hades, and what she stages is less a concert than a full world, costumes and characters and a crowd dressed to match. A few blocks down Tryon, Middle C Jazz keeps its basement busy with saxophonist Vincent Ingala across three nights starting Friday, July 31, then pianist David Benoit closing the room out on Sunday, August 2.

Up in University City, Truliant Amphitheater runs three nights that have nothing in common but the stage. Toto arrive Tuesday, July 28 with Christopher Cross and The Romantics, a bill of 1980s radio staples played by the people who actually made them. John Mellencamp follows on Thursday, July 30 with the Dancing Words Tour, a greatest hits run that makes room for the songs he usually leaves out of a set. Then on Saturday, August 1, Hilary Duff plays her first headline tour in nearly twenty years, with La Roux along on her own comeback and Jade LeMac starting the night.

North of Uptown at the Music Factory, Oliver Tree brings his absurd characters and his pop songs to the Fillmore on Thursday, July 30. The Underground goes tribute the next night, when Reprise works through the Phish catalog on Friday, July 31 for anyone who wants the jams without the road trip.

NoDa keeps it small, the way it always has. Songwriter David Ramirez plays the Evening Muse on Friday, July 31, a room where a quiet song still lands. On Sunday, August 2, Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards bring their loud piano rock to the same stage. South End trades the club for open air, with the Music Yard at SouthBound hosting aurorawave on Thursday, July 30 and producer Le Youth on Friday, July 31, both early sets that finish while the evening is still going.

East on Independence, Ovens Auditorium swings from a packed Latin bill to a movie. Hermanos Espinoza headline Saturday, August 1, and on Sunday, August 2 the auditorium screens The Princess Bride in Concert, the whole film up top with the score played live underneath. For the late crowd, Blackbox out on Sugar Creek Road runs two nights of dance music, Kream on Friday, July 31 and Eli Brown on Saturday, August 1, both starting at 10. 3BallMTY takes Premier Event Center on Friday, July 31 for a night of tribal guarachero.

The Comedy Card

The clubs split the week unevenly. Duckworth's in Uptown carries most of it, with Tone Bell and Flame Monroe sharing a busy weekend, both running Thursday, July 30 through Saturday, August 1 across early and late sets. Marcus Monroe closes the room on Sunday, August 2, a juggler turned comic who has been making that combination work for years. Over at the Comedy Zone in the Music Factory the week is quieter, with Cam Bertrand taking Wednesday, July 29.

Next Week's Radar

Spectrum Center runs two big nights back to back next weekend, so plan ahead. Bryan Adams takes Saturday, August 8 with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo along, then Mumford & Sons land on Sunday, August 9 behind Prizefighter, their sixth album, out since February 2026, with Medium Build opening. Two arena nights in a row rarely stay cheap, so decide early.
