Upcoming At The Amp Ballantyne

For years, living in Ballantyne meant a long drive north for every concert. That ended in the fall of 2023, when the neighborhood's office campus turned a corner of its 535 acres into a true outdoor amphitheater. It opened as The Amp Ballantyne, and after a naming rights deal it now goes by TD Amp Ballantyne, though most locals just say the Amp.

The setup is easy summer living, a covered stage, tiered seating up front, and a general admission lawn that brings the total to about 5,000. The calendar mixes touring acts, tribute nights, and free community shows, with food trucks and concessions doing the catering. It is the rare amphitheater built into a neighborhood people already live and work in, so the parking, the dinner, and the show all sit within the same campus.

Fair warning for the rest of the city, Ballantyne is a haul from Uptown, twenty minutes south without traffic. But that is exactly the point of the place. South Charlotte finally has a summer stage it can walk or rideshare to, and the bookings have grown every season since it opened.

Good To Know Before You Go

What is the seating like at TD Amp Ballantyne?
Tiered reserved seating close to the covered stage, with a general admission lawn behind it, about 5,000 in all at capacity. The chart on this page shows the layout. Lawn tickets are the budget pick, and the bowl is gentle enough that the grass still sees everything.
Is The Amp Ballantyne the same as TD Amp Ballantyne?
Yes. The venue opened in 2023 as The Amp Ballantyne and picked up TD as a naming rights sponsor, so listings now show TD Amp Ballantyne. Same stage, same lawn.
How big is TD Amp Ballantyne?
About 5,000 people between the seats and the lawn, the same scale as Skyla Amphitheatre at the Music Factory, just on the opposite end of the city.
Where is TD Amp Ballantyne, and where do you park?
On the Ballantyne corporate campus in south Charlotte, about twenty minutes south of Uptown without traffic. The campus has its own parking, and the surrounding offices empty out by showtime, so getting in is easier than at most venues.
Can you bring chairs or blankets to the lawn?
Blankets are the standard move, and chair rules vary by event, so check your show's listing. Food trucks and concessions handle the eating, outside food and drink generally stay home.
What happens if it rains at the Amp?
The stage is covered but the seats and lawn are open air, and outdoor shows generally run rain or shine. Pack a poncho for a wet forecast.
What kind of shows play TD Amp Ballantyne?
A mix of touring acts, tribute bands, and free community events, with the season running through the warm months. It shares Charlotte's amphitheater circuit with Skyla and Truliant, at the friendlier end of the scale.
